"What Remains" is a series of altered Polaroid photographs of my late mother, reflecting on loss, memory, and the passage of time. Polaroids are made to capture and preserve moments, but in this series the images are intentionally altered, mirroring how memories of those we’ve lost can change, fade, or blur.
The physical transformation of the photographs echoes the experience of grief. Clear images become fragmented and uncertain, highlighting both what is remembered and what is missing. The work occupies the space between holding on and letting go.
This series is not about destruction, but about change. What Remains considers how memory and emotional connection endure even as they shift, reflecting on impermanence and the quiet, lasting presence of those we carry with us.
